Bread Pakora is one of these street foods and goes well with tea or coffee. Bread Pakora recipe is quick and simple snack recipe. This recipe is also known as Bread Fritters recipe.
If you are from India or have ever visited India, you must have already heard about Pakoras. If you have visited any Asian or Indian restaurant then also it is very likely that you would have definitely heard about it or found it in a menu card. Pakoras are an all time snack in India and available in almost all the restaurants. They are very common street food and there are lots of varieties to it.
Pakoras (Fritters) are especially popular during rainy season and when offered with a cup of tea or coffee is the ultimate combination. When eating Pakoras with a hot beverage like tea or coffee you get great taste of sweet and chilli.

Bread Pakora (Bread Fritters) mainly require few slices of Bread and Gram flour to prepare the batter. It is a quick and simple dish that takes less than 20 mins to prepare. Usually people eat Bread Pakora with some hot beverages such as Tea or Coffee along with Coriander Chutney or Tomato Ketchup. Since it is very easy to make this dish it is also a great option for breakfast. Pakoras (Fritters) are basically calorie rich food and we do not recommend them for everyday breakfast or snack.
Since Bread Pakora is a calorie powerhouse, parents should be careful when planning it as breakfast. As Pakoras are calorie rich food they can easily lead to weight gain in children.
There are few different ways in which you can make Bread Pakora. In this article we are covering the unstuffed Bread Pakora recipe. Stuffed Bread Pakora recipe is also very similar to this recipe except that in case of stuffed Bread Pakoras bread is stuffed with some other food such as with mashed potato masala.

Spices
Almost all the spices listed for the dish are commonly available. If you are living outside India and struggling to get hold of few exception spices like Carom seeds (Ajwain) you may skip it. In such case you can experiment with adding any other common spices – Chilli flakes, Oregano, Parsley, Chives etc available in the market.

Bread
White Bread which is commonly found in local stored and food supermarkets is mostly used to prepare the dish. Use medium sized bread to make the dish. You can use soft bread to make the dish as it will be much more crispy and crunchy. You can also use Brown bread however since this is a fried dish there are very less health advantages of using one for this dish.
Preparation Steps to make Bread Pakora
Making Bread Pakora is very easy and there are few simple preparation steps to make the dish. To make Bread Pakora let us first finely chop Green chillies and Coriander leaves. These we will add to the batter for added flavour.
Now to prepare the batter, take Gram Flour, Rice flour, Red chillies powder, green chillies, coriander leaves, Garam Masala, Turmeric, Salt and Carom Seeds in a bowl and add 1.5 cup water to it.

Now mix all Ingredients properly so that there are no lump formations else it will spoil the experience. Your batter is now ready.

How to make Bread Pakora
Cut each Bread slice into 4 pieces cutting diagonally. You can remove the border of the bread slices in case it is hard. Though some people like them anyways.
Take approx 2 cup Vegetable oil in a deep frying pan and put it on gas and switch it to high flame. This step you can do while you prepare the batter so that the oil is quite hot by now.
Once the oil is hot enough you can then start making Bread Pakora . To check if the oil is hot, take 1/4 tsp batter and drop it in the frying pan. If it makes intense fizzing sound and the batter drop immediately floats in the oil then it means oil is ready for frying.
Take Bread slices and wrap them well with bread pakora batter from all sides.

Now drop these breads in the hot oil.

Fry Bread Pakora until they turn golden brown in color. Be cautious of the spatter from hot oil while cooking
Be cautious of the hot oil spatter as they may cause burn. This may happen if you accidentally drop water droplets in the hot oil, so be careful.
While you fry, roll over Bread Pakoras so they can fry evenly from both sides. Fry Bread Pakora until they turn golden brown in colour. Once they get the required colour you can take them out using slotted turner or slotted spoon.
Always be cautious of the hot oil spatter as they may cause serious burn injuries. This can happen if you accidentally drop water droplets in the hot oil. In case of any such burns, get medical attention immediately.

Serving Ideas for Bread Pakoras
Usually Bread Pakoras are great combination with hot beverages such as Tea and Coffee. If you are going to serve Bread Pakoras then serving them with Tea along with some sauces such as – Garlic Sauce, Coriander Chutney or Tomato ketchup is a great idea.
Many people enjoy Pakoras especially during rainy season or during winters since they are warm and tasty. It is also a great idea to sprinkle some Chat Masala and some herbs such as Parsley, Oregano, Chives on top of Bread Pakoras for additional flavour.

Chef Recommendations for Bread Pakora
- In case while preparing the batter if there are any lump formations, then you would have to press them to dissolve. If there are still some very fine lumps in the batter, leave it for few minutes and try breaking them again later. This time they should dissolve easily.
- In case you do not have Rice flour, you can skip it and the Bread Pakora or Bread Fritters will still be delicious.
- Do not fry Fritters or Pakoras on low flame as in such case they will soak more oil and not cook properly.
- You can complement Bread Pakoras or Bread Fritters with Green Coriander chutney aka Green sauce or Tomato Ketchup.
